The practical difference
Choose Asana’s route when task/project extraction and its bounded event catch-up fit your integration. Choose monday.com’s route when board/item queries fit and the quoted plan can carry their daily cost. Evaluate a complete refresh before committing (normal daily updates can hide the cost of rebuilding the copy). Neither access grade ranks scheduling, usability or the broader product.
This comparison covers customer control over Asana and Monday.com. The assessment below retains each product, route and source date; product features and native workflows need their own product evaluation.
Scores and assessment scope
These scores use the same customer-control methodology as the vendor reviews. They combine documented capabilities and conditions (unresolved scoring inputs carry an asterisk).

Scores are out of 10. * Incomplete evidence discounts verified capabilities (unknown answers stay unknown). Planned migration drives data exit. Scoring method ↗
Use the right person’s permissions
Asana personal tokens have the creator’s permissions; OAuth supports applications used by multiple people. Project visibility and the user’s license still constrain access. Enterprise service-account and organization-export routes need separate entitlement checks.
monday.com personal tokens mirror UI permissions down to boards, columns and items. App tokens add explicit scopes. Test with the identity the integration will use in production, including a restricted board, instead of assuming an administrator’s successful request represents ordinary user access.
Budget the full refresh alongside daily work
Asana documents separate limits for free and paid domains. Its task queries use selected optional fields and pagination; retrieve required subtasks explicitly. A successful compact task response may omit fields the destination expects.
monday.com combines daily calls with complexity, minute and concurrency limits. The current daily table lists 200 calls for Free, 1,000 for Standard/Basic, 10,000 for Pro/Trial and 25,000 for Enterprise. Complexity can increase a request’s daily cost. These API allowances do not establish a complete subscription or implementation price.
For a proposed nightly status report, count the pages needed to fetch every selected task or board item, then add writes and recovery reads. Reserve room for rebuilding after an outage. Use that estimate to choose the plan before optimizing individual requests.

Catch-up windows differ from callback retries
Asana resource events remain retrievable for 24 hours after processing, with tokens that can expire sooner. A 412 response supplies a fresh token and can require recrawling. Asana also warns that exceptional events can be missed and recommends fallback polling when completeness matters.
monday.com board webhooks send events to a verified endpoint with retry behavior. The reviewed route does not establish an equivalent durable event replay window. Design reconciliation around the selected boards, and distinguish a deleted item from an item that the integration user can no longer see.

Move the work model as well as the visible status
Asana projects download as JSON or CSV; monday.com API responses provide selected board/item records while authorization remains valid. Keep source identities and the field mapping in the saved copy so the destination can explain each status and relationship.
Before migration, check attachments and historical changes separately, then inventory native rules and automations. These record routes do not establish reusable native workflow definitions or a guaranteed retrieval window after cancellation. A restored status table is a narrower result than a restored work-management system.
