CUSTOMER CHOICE
Third-party accessibility
Customers configure OAuth/OIDC clients for Core integrations. Client Purpose distinguishes internal tools, software providers and marketplace partners; deprecated API keys and other Coupa products do not share one access contract.
Confirm who can connect, who owns the credentials and which uses are permitted. Customer consent and provider approval can be separate requirements; the selected plan and contract still matter.
READ / INTEGRATE
API and export routes
The invoices collection supports supplier, currency and invoice-date filters. Core Querying Options documents offset paging in batches of up to 50 records; Arguments documents updated_at comparisons. Retain tenant and invoice identity across pages; configurable response fields can narrow returned records.
| Access route | Authentication | Credential owner | Provider approval | Access requirement | Last checked |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coupa customer API | OAuth client credentials | Customer | Not confirmed | Customer-supplied credentials | 2026-10-16 |
Availability depends on your product, plan and agreement. See the documentation below for the requirements of each route.
ECONOMIC ACCESS
Cost, authentication and limits
The lowest eligible customer plan and any fixed API, partner or setup charges remain unestablished. Payment-processing charges do not by themselves establish an API-access surcharge.
Check API entitlement, credential ownership and rate limits for the route you intend to use. Include review fees, customer-plan upgrades and ongoing access charges in the total.
ACT FROM OUTSIDE
External action
POST /api/invoices creates draft invoices and PUT /api/invoices/:id updates invoices. Strict validations can reject inactive billing accounts or non-editable fields; approval and payment actions have their own preconditions.
Validate the supported operation, acting identity and permission scope (read access does not imply write permission). Ambiguous retries and revoked credentials also affect whether an external workflow can run safely.
KEEP ACCESS USEFUL
Continuity
Core updated-at query comparisons support overlapping refreshes. A repeatable scoped invoice traversal can rebuild present records; hard-delete identities, historical versions and a retained event log remain unestablished.

Useful ongoing access includes corrections and deletions, not only the first export. A failed request, changed filter or lost resource permission should not be interpreted as a deleted record.
LEAVE WITH YOUR DATA
Data exit and portability
Invoice XML/JSON records can be retained outside Coupa before cancellation. This establishes portable invoice records, not every attachment, approval definition, configuration setting or a whole-tenant restore.
Test the output against the destination’s required fields and history. Check stable identifiers, relationships, attachments and extraction time; a sample file proves only the coverage of that sample.
BUILD / INSPECT / REUSE
Business logic and customization
Customers can write external code against the invoice API (including their own field mapping and reconciliation). The reviewed technical pages do not establish ownership or reusable export of native Coupa workflow definitions.
Custom API access, ownership of workflows and the right to export their definitions are separate questions. A custom-app capability alone does not establish that business rules can move to another system.
