Each company and sandbox has separate credentials; requests use HMAC-signed queries and a client-type identifying in-house or outsourced code. The current help explicitly permits sharing with trusted third parties, but says credentials cannot be refreshed and individual third-party connections cannot be blocked after sharing.
Confirm who can connect, who owns the credentials and which uses are permitted. Customer consent and provider approval can be separate requirements; the selected plan and contract still matter.

Cost, authentication and limits
Current USD pricing lists Core as the lowest paid package with 250,000 API calls per month; Pro includes 500,000. Optional additional-call bundles are distinct from baseline access. General FlightPath onboarding is required for all accounts and starts at the listed USD449 one-off self-service package; this base-product onboarding cost is not an extra API licence charge.
Check API entitlement, credential ownership and rate limits for the route you intend to use. Include review fees, customer-plan upgrades and ongoing access charges in the total.

POST /Products creates products and POST /Products/{productGuid} creates or updates the identified product; an obsoletion operation is separately documented. Partial API updates are unsupported: omitted fields can be overwritten with blanks. Re-read and validate the full intended record before an approved update; a stable GUID does not establish universal safe retry.
Validate the supported operation, acting identity and permission scope (read access does not imply write permission). Ambiguous retries and revoked credentials also affect whether an external workflow can run safely.

Data exit and portability
Customers can keep structured API product records and export pre-populated product CSV files, with supplier, attribute and price data split across documented export sets. These are useful migration records (with non-text and product-history limits), not a restorable copy of accounting, payroll, all attachments or native configuration.
Test the output against the destination’s required fields and history. Check stable identifiers, relationships, attachments and extraction time; a sample file proves only the coverage of that sample.
BUILD / INSPECT / REUSE
Business logic and customization
The provider supports in-house and outsourced integration clients, so customer-authored code can reconcile product data and drive approved product changes. Ownership, reusable export and independent execution of native Unleashed workflow definitions remain unestablished.
Custom API access, ownership of workflows and the right to export their definitions are separate questions. A custom-app capability alone does not establish that business rules can move to another system.
