Investigate Zoho when selected-module queries and deleted-record identities cover your integration. Investigate Salesforce when enabled editions, selected CDC objects and customer-defined Apex operations fit the requirement. Compare a gap beyond normal retry time before choosing (a deleted-record list and a replayable stream recover different information). Neither query language establishes unrestricted database access.

Establish the edition and integration user first

Zoho OAuth scopes can narrow access by module and operation, while user permissions still apply. Its documented credit and concurrency budgets vary by edition. Complete lowest-plan entitlement for the assessed Bulk Read and COQL portfolio remains unresolved, so obtain a route-specific quote.

Salesforce API access is enabled in Enterprise, Performance and Unlimited, with an API add-on available for Professional. The user also needs API Enabled permission. New integrations should evaluate External Client Apps: creating legacy Connected Apps has been restricted since Spring 2026, while existing apps can continue.

Use queries for selection and bulk routes for extraction

Zoho COQL supports lookup-linked module queries, grouping and aggregates. Bulk Read runs an asynchronous job and supplies a downloadable ZIP containing CSV records, with ICS available for Events. Keep the selected fields and filters with each extract so its scope remains reproducible.

Salesforce REST exposes SOQL queries and Bulk API supports asynchronous extraction. User and field permissions constrain both. For a proposed account-and-opportunity report, verify relationship keys and selected fields in each system before comparing record counts; similar labels do not establish identical CRM definitions.

Separate deletion recovery from replaying changes

Zoho documents modified-since record reads, notifications and deleted-record queries for supported modules. The deletion source retains recycle-bin deletions for sixty days and permanent deletions for 120 days. Those identities can help reconcile removals without proving a retained stream of every prior update.

Salesforce CDC publishes create, update, delete and undelete events for its supported scope. Platform and CDC events are retained for 72 hours; subscribers can resume using saved replay IDs within that window. Retention resets and gaps still require reconciliation. Confirm CDC entitlement and object selection separately from ordinary REST access.

For an evaluation outage longer than three days, ask which current-state rebuild and deletion source will repair the destination. Neither a bounded stream nor a long deletion list alone proves recovery of every intermediate value.

Custom actions introduce a second migration inventory

Zoho supports record insertion, update and upsert, and documents Deluge functions in CRM extensions. Salesforce supports standard writes and customer-defined Apex REST methods. Verify validation and permissions for the exact operation before treating a custom endpoint as approved business behavior.

Bulk records do not preserve an executable native application. Inventory functions, configuration and managed-package dependencies alongside attachments and history. These reviews leave complete artifact rights, independent execution and post-cancellation retrieval unresolved; extract and validate the required assets before retiring the account.
